For more detailed instructions for Apple Mac computers or Linux email configuration, please see the detailed instructions page. If you are configuring your home computer or a computer outside central management, please follow the instructions for students.

Your emails, calendar reservations, contacts, tasks and OneDrive files have been copied to the TUNI Office 365 service during an automated migration process.

You can log in to TUNI Office 365 web-based services using a web browser at: https://portal.office.com. Login using your new TUNI email address. If the browser remembers your old credentials and you are unable to login with your new account, use the Firefox browser. If there are still problems with the login, start Private Browsing mode using the keyboard shortcut: CTRL + SHIFT + P and then try again.

Configure your mobile phone:  Add TUNI email account into Mobile Outlook application or into other email application, depending which one you have been using. Use your TUNI email address to log in. See instructions for Android devices and for Apple IOS devices (iPhone and iPad). Remember to also synchronize your address book and calendar. If you have been using Office 365 applications on your phone (eg. OneNote, Skype for Business…), please change user id into new TUNI ID in them also.

Login to Office applications with your TUNI account. Open MS Word and select File -> Account -> Sign out. Then click Sign in and use your TUNI email address to log in. Now you have your TUNI account configured in Office applications as the primary account. If you still need to use Office applications to edit files saved in old Office 365 environment’s Sharepoint, you can also log in to Office applications with your old user account. The old account will then be in use alongside your TUNI account.

Do the following if you are using these features

During the day when TUNI Office 365 is taken into service, an application called Office 365 Helper will pop up on your screen. The Helper will guide you in the changes that you need to do on your computer yourself. The Helper will open automatically, if there still are changes required. If you don’t want these reminders, you can select “Don’t start again automatically” in the last window in the Helper.

Configure your Outlook: DeploymentPro application will start automatically on your computer. This application configures your Outlook to use TUNI Office 365. Follow DeploymentPro’s instructions and enter your TUNI email address and password when required. You received your new email address when you activated your TUNI ID. If running DeploymentPro seems to take a long time, check if there’s another window waiting for your input behind the foremost window.

If DeploymentPro doesn’t start, you can configure Outlook manually following the student instructions below or contact IT Helpdesk.

After starting Outlook the first time, don’t panic, if all the emails are not immediately available. When you see the text “All folders are up to date” on Outlook bottom bar, all emails are available. If you are not sure if all emails have been copied from the old Office 365 service, you can compare them by opening your old emails in webmail https://portal.office.com, logging with your old user id and password.
NOTE! UTA staff Office 365 users’ emails that are older than 2 years ie. Archive folder (inplace archive/online archive) will be visible in TUNI Office 365 Inbox, not in the Archive folder.

NOTE! Users of old UTAMail service: Old emails from UTAMail need to be copied manually. Instructions for this has been provided separately.

In the OneDrive application, remove your old account (Settings -> Unlink this PC) and click “Add an account” to add your TUNI account. After this a new folder called OneDrive – TUNI.fi will appear next to your old OneDrive folder. DO NOT remove files from the old OneDrive folder, before you are sure that all changes have been updated to OneDrive in the new TUNI Office 365.

If you have been using OneNote notebook application, and you have a personal notebook in the old Office 365 service, don’t continue making notes in it, but instead open its copy from the TUNI Office 365. Easiest way to open it is to login with a web browser to https://portal.office.com with your new TUNI email address. After logging in open Notebooks and choose your notebook. When the Notebook is open, select “Open in Onenote” which will open the notebook into desktop OneNote application.
